Apple Watchers Salivate Over 3G iPhone Rumors
Autor admin | 07.06.2008 | Category SEO
Apple will unveil a new iPhone at its sold-out developers conference Monday in San Francisco; at least that’s the consensus among the numerous rumor sites, developers and media outlets speculating in the days leading up to the event.
Once again, Apple’s done an exceptional job of building expectations for an announcement it’s never publicly confirmed.
Will the new iPhone offer higher 3G (define) speeds? New apps? New touchscreen technology? The only thing Apple or carrier partner AT&T has said publicly this year about a new iPhone release is that it will happen “this year.”
But all the ducks are lined up. Apple released the beta of its software development kit (SDK) in March with the final version due out this month.

Time to Scrap Your BPM Spreadsheets?
Autor admin | 07.06.2008 | Category SEO
Many small businesses use regular spreadsheets for business process management (BPM), but these can take a lot of time to create, and slow down planning.
In a survey of 343 financial professionals by the Business Performance Management Forum, all agreed that spreadsheets were one of the major problems delaying or disrupting the budgeting process.
One potential solution is to turn to companies such as Adaptive Planning, which provides its own spreadsheets enhanced with built-in budgeting, planning and financial planning templates. (Adaptive Planning sponsored the spreadsheet survey).
Adaptive this week released Version 5 of its solution, also called Adaptive Planning, in a Software as a Service (SaaS) (define) form.

Technical Analysis: Bye-Bye Support

Not a lot to like in today’s market, as the lagging blue chips and financials continue to be a problem for the market that technology leadership alone can’t overcome. Even the techs finally gave in today, as the Nasdaq (first chart below) closed below its March uptrend line. 2450 and 2425-2430 are next support, and 2490, 2514 and 2551.5 are resistance. We’re not seeing a huge amount of fear just yet, although a 26% spike in the VIX today and 90% downside volume on the exchanges could be some evidence of climactic selling. The S&P’s (second chart) next support levels below 1360 are 1340 and 1325, and 1370, 1383, 1390 and 1400-1406 are once again resistance. Sopra to Buy Tumbleweed
Autor admin | 07.06.2008 | Category SEO
In a move that is expected to offer small and medium-sized businesses a crack at hot technologies like service oriented architecture (SOA), France’s Sopra Group announced today it will buy Tumbleweed Communications.
The purchase will be made through Axway, a subsidiary of Sopra, which will pay $138 million, or $2.70 a share, for all outstanding Tumbleweed stock.
The deal will give Sopra, a major system integrator in the B2B (define) market, a quick and easy entry into the SMB market where Tumbleweed is a major player in managed file transfer (MFT) (define) and e-mail security.
It could also kick off a wave of mergers and acquisitions here, as smaller players beef up their capabilities to take on the newly-combined giant.
Who’s King of the Browser Speed Jungle?
Autor admin | 07.06.2008 | Category SEO
The battle for Web browser performance bragging rights is all about speed. Both Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox are jostling for the title of fastest browser, with one of the key metrics being how fast JavaScript performs.
Apple this week upped the stakes with the new SquirrelFish bytecode JavaScript interpreter, which it claims offers significant performance improvements.
JavaScript performance is critical for Web developers and users since it has an impact on how quickly Web sites (especially Ajax-heavy sites) load and perform.
SquirrelFish is now part of the Safari nightly build, although it is not yet included in the main, generally available Safari 3.1.x release.

Icahn Wants Yahoo to Offer Itself Up for $34.375 Per Share Hardly a Friday goes by without a good dose of Microhoo drama leading into the weekend. Today, Carl Icahn released his second letter in a week to Yahoo’s Chairman Roy Bostock. He responded to yesterday’s Yahoo response to his earlier letter ripping Yang. Plus, he suggests that Yahoo publicly offer itself to Microsoft for $34.375 per share. Hey Carl, just one suggestion. That second paragraph is a doozy. Next time, chop those sentences up into more pretty paragraphs, ok? Anyway, Icahn also outlined 5 steps his board would take if successfully elected at the shareholders meeting on August 1. Check out the letter in its entirety below. (Read the full post about ‘Icahn Wants Yahoo to Offer Itself Up for $34.375 Per Share’…)
