Matt Cutts: Can You Help A Brother Get A Lap Dance?

Figured the title would get Matt’s attention. Okay Matt I need some help. I have been hired by an adult entertainment site to build their presence online - get better rankings etc.

I need to build their inbound links and want to make sure I am not wasting my time and their money. So before I started I did a search for your comments on directory submissions, paid links (well everyone knows that opinion), reciprocal links, bad neighborhoods (of the IP kind - not the seedy parts of towns where my clients businesses are located) and your example site review post.

So I began to think that I may not be able to do much for them.

Orphaned User Accounts Run Wild in Enterprises

Autor admin | 28.05.2008 | Category SEO

When an employee leaves your company, do you make sure you shut down his or her user accounts at once? And do you check to confirm this has been done?

If not, you’re evidently not alone, according to a new study conducted by eMediaUSA for Symark International that found that too often, the accounts of ex-employees, contractors and suppliers are often left open and accessible after they leave.

Orphaned accounts are a “huge, huge issue, because you’re facing security breaches, compliance breaches [and] identity fraud, and it can lead to both internal and external data breaches,” Sally Hudson, research director at IDC, told InternetNews.com.

China Real Estate Search Engine Launches in English Before Beijing Olympics
China Real Estate Search Engine Launches in English Before Beijing Olympics Jipingmi.com, a real estate search engine in China, officially launched an English version of the site yesterday. English.Jipingmi.com collects real estate property listings from a variety of English property listing sources and organizes the results into a single search platform. The sophistication of the search engine falls somewhere between Craigslist and Craigslist, with a 2-D Google Maps thrown in. Tremendous opportunity remains in the Chinese real estate market online. Since the launch of Jipingmi.com (Mandarin for “How many square meters?” or “A few square meters”) in late 2007, Jipingmi.com has become the stripped-down Zillow or Trulia of the Chinese real estate search engine market. Server Sales Remain Brisk in Q1: IDC

Autor admin | 28.05.2008 | Category SEO

Worldwide servers sales continue to grow in 2008, with international sales making up for U.S. softness while the once-looming threat of virtualization failed to dent server sales, according to IDC.

The company said that during the first quarter of 2008, worldwide server sales totaled $13.0 billion, a 3.5 percent gain from the first quarter of 2007. Unit sales topped two million, which, if annualized, means server unit sales will surpass last year’s total of eight million servers sold.

That’s a remarkable figure because many researchers last year, including IDC, had predicted that virtualization would diminish server sales. Instead, the opposite happened.

South Africa Appeal Puts OOXML’s OK on Hold

You didn’t really believe that the epic process of standardizing Microsoft’s Office file formats had ended, did you?

Last week, Martin Kuscus, CEO of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), formally appealed the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) ratification of Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) Office Open XML (OOXML) as a standard for document interchange.

The appeal puts the format’s standards status on hold and possibly in jeopardy.

While unglamorous, getting a set of file formats — in this case, OOXML, which originated as the file formats for Microsoft Office 2007 — certified as an international standard can be worth billions of dollars in sales.

CARLSBAD, CALIF. — Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) plans to give users of the next version of its Windows operating system touch screen controls as one option for controlling the software, its top executives said on Tuesday.

Chairman Bill Gates and Chief Executive Steve Ballmer showed off new Windows features based on software it calls “multitouch” that will be part of Windows 7, the next version of Windows, which Ballmer said was due out in late 2009.

The ability to use touch to give users fingertip control of their screens could help revolutionize how computer desktops and mobile phones are controlled and would be an alternative to existing mice, keyboard and pen-based user controls.
