Microsoft and South Korea’s top carmaker Hyundai have agreed to build a music and information system to debut in cars sold in North America in 2010, the companies said on Tuesday.

Google’s Search Appliance offering for businesses may get a leg up in the enterprise thanks to the addition to a suite of add-ons that promise to greatly extend the scope of its searches.
The Google Search Appliance (GSA) can search deeper into different types of enterprise content with the addition of new Consulting company Adhere Solutions said its new All Access Connectors, released this week, can dramatically broaden Google Search Appliance’s (GSA) capabilities. New Tool May Put File Archiving in Reach

Mimosa Systems is debuting a new file system archiving tool today that promises to improve retention, retrieval and recovery processes for archiving files, e-mail, instant messaging and content housed on back-up tapes.
It’s called NearPoint File Systems Archiving (FSA), which the company claims will boost storage efficiencies and cut costs. How so? The system keeps just one “global” instance of a document for e-discovery and retention purposes, and lets enterprises move user files off high-cost arrays, according to the five-year-old Santa Clara-based data management solution provider.
NearPoint FSA is Mimosa’s latest addition to its product line focused on email information archiving, e-discovery, regulatory compliance, business continuity, and storage optimization.

For Yahoo, the future is anything but certain. In a company blog post, CEO Jerry Yang wrote that “The last 13 weeks have been a remarkable time here at Yahoo. We’ve been living under the microscope in a way we never have before.” He went on to praise the Yahoo staff for continuing to press forward with the company’s transformation strategy, and cast a hopeful eye toward the future.
“With Microsoft’s withdrawal, we’ll be better able to focus our energy on growing our industry leadership and maximizing value for stockholders,” Yang said.

Google Finally Copies Microsoft, Adds ‘Related Searches’ to Google News
In Microsoft’s big pursuit of Google, they often seem to update their search products to include features Google has already mastered. This time, the tables are turned and Google is following in Microsoft’s footsteps.
Google News has announced the addition of ‘Related Searches’ to its news feature. When Live Search launched recently, ‘Related Search’ was a built-in feature.
And in more shocking news - Live Search does it better, in my humble opinion. Related searches are placed on a right sidebar above the fold, ready to be of assistance.

Storage giant EMC (NYSE: EMC) is wading even farther into new business lines with the latest release of network management tools that bring more smarts to managing enterprise networks.
With the latest release of VoyenceControl 4.0, EMC is touting a platform “designed to help system administrators plan, update, fix and manage network change and configuration management issues,” especially the human error configuration problems that are often behind network issues.
The release could put EMC more in direct competition with systems vendors such as HP (NYSE: HPQ), who offer network management, but also helps the storage provider expand beyond its bread and butter hardware/storage roots into more software and services.

NEW YORK — The proliferation of video on the Web is an established fact, but advertisers are still scratching their heads about the best way to fit their messages into the content.
Here at the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) digital video summit today, panelists considering the migration of ad dollars from television to the Web — and how best to monetize it — agreed that the process is still in a very early stage.

Prices Rising on PC Memory
Autor admin | 06.05.2008 | Category SEO
Hynix Semiconductor, the world’s No. 2 memory chip maker, said on Monday it raised contract prices for computer memory chips by about 15 percent last month and expected further increases in May.
The healthy price gain confirmed the dynamic random access memory (DRAM) market has bottomed out after a 15-month slump, but analysts say a recovery this year could be short-lived due to a production drive by sector leader Samsung Electronics.
Makers of DRAM, after reeling from overproduction and slower PC demand, have pinned their hopes on spending cutbacks from cash-starved makers and improving demand ahead of the start of the new school year and the year-end shopping season.
