Is Google Dropping AdSense Sites Using AdWords?
A discussion over at WebmasterWorld suggests Google may be dropping AdSense accounts from sites that buy traffic from AdWords.
Funny how this may have been the way to stop arbitrage way back before all the other methods were used and the experimentation cost regular advertisers lots of money through all the minimum bid increases.

Lawmakers Urge Conditions on XM-Sirius
Autor admin | 05.05.2008 | Category SEO

Source: Reuters Two prominent Democratic congressmen yesterday called on the Federal Communications Commission to take a hard look at the pending merger of satellite radio providers XM (NASDAQ: XMSR) and Sirius (NASDAQ: SIRI). Reps. John Dingell (Mich.) and Ed Markey (Mass.) wrote a letter to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin calling on the agency to broaden its review of the transaction beyond a “simple economic analysis” and consider the potential consumer harm that could arise from allowing the companies to unite. The merger, which won unconditional approval from the Department of Justice in March, has sparked a flurry of opposition from terrestrial broadcasters, public interest groups and government officials concerned that the combined company would operate without competition in the satellite radio market. What is Cinco de Mayo? It’s the best reason to party (May 5th) at the Cinco de Mayo bash hosted by 212, NYC’s interactive advertising club. Sure there will be lots of Cinco de Mayo activities in New York and Cinco de Mayo food (margaritas!)
What’s the origin of Cinco de Mayo? Whether you spell it Cinco de Mayo, Sinco Demio, Cinco de Mio, or Sinco de Mayo, it’s a great Mexican holiday. Here’s a very brief Cinco de Mayo history:
In the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, an underdog Mexican army defeated the massive, well-trained French army, arguably the most powerful in the world (that year).

There Are No Free Links: Budgeting Resources for SEO Link Building
Autor admin | 05.05.2008 | Category SEO
A common problem many companies face is how much manpower — and how many resources — to allocate to link building.
First, let’s dispel a common myth: there are no free links. All links are paid for in one form or another. Companies invest time and money to create content and resources, and then spend more time and money to promote that content. Even if you’re self-employed and doing it all yourself — your time has a dollar value.
Investment
The amount of time and resources to invest for link development depends on the profits your company stands to make from top rankings. Remember: a large portion of ranking algorithms are still based on backlinks.

Avoid the Pitfalls of Mobile Marketing
Autor admin | 05.05.2008 | Category SEO
Mobile marketing today is at a similar point in its evolution as online advertising was at in the ’90s. While the promise of Web-based marketing was large in 1996, adoption was slow until Internet access became readily accessible and affordable. Remember the days of pay-per-minute plans for Internet access? I still have a few $400 ISP bills I’d like to forget.
Thanks to developments such as the iPhone — combined with better mobile content and services — mobile search seemed to take some major strides during the second half of 2007. The advertising potential now resembles that of the early days of the Internet in both variety of search options available and the fragmented nature of the keyword search volume.

The Tangled Web of PCI Compliance

What Are You Converting?
Autor admin | 05.05.2008 | Category SEO
When most people think of “conversions,” they think of large-scale or “macro” events, such as product sales or sign-ups for a service. Those are one kind of conversion, but there are many more events that fit the definition as well.
In fact, most conversion actions are incremental micro-events that reduce friction and allow a visitor to continue moving toward your ultimate desired outcome. That outcome may not occur during their current visit — it may be delayed for months, or even years. The key criterion for defining conversion actions is that they must be measurable and have a clear value.
