Yahoo’s Adwords Test Continues, Raises Justice Dept’s Eyebrows
After reporting great success with the test of Google Adwords, Yahoo’s test continues. But that’s making a few people in Washington just a little bit nervous. It seems the Justice Department is checking into the all-too convenient relationship to see if there’s any antitrust violations going on.
The test is slated to run just two weeks and was reported to the Justice Department in advance, according to Reuters. The first week brought great results, according to Yahoo. Though, the timing of the announcement is surely mangled up in the whole Microsoft-unsolicited-bid fiasco.

SAN FRANCISCO — Surfing the Web is so 20th century. That just might be the thinking of startup Vysr, one of the many Internet companies hoping to make a big splash here at the Web 2.0 Expo this week.
Vysr has launched a limited public beta of RoamAbout, a browser extension for Internet Explorer and Firefox designed to bring Web users ready access to the services they want.
With Vysr installed, the idea is to let users quickly tap Web services they normally use without leaving the site they’re viewing. “This is a platform many services can be written for, too,” Vysr CEO Guda Venkatesh told InternetNews.com.

Sun continues building out its flagship Unix operating system, Solaris 10, with a new update that adds new virtualization features that may be chiefly of interest to users of older Solaris systems.
The Solaris 10 5/08 update for the three-year-old OS also continues the evolution of the platform, as Sun attempts to gain operating system share.
Its latest effort centers around broadening the capabilities of Solaris’s Containers, the core virtualization technology that enables guest operating systems, including Solaris 9, to run on Solaris 10.
With the new update, Solaris 10’s Containers add support for Solaris 8 environments.

The Power of Sharing: Link Building in Online Forums
Autor admin | 24.04.2008 | Category SEO
I’ve been spending more time in my old haunts, the discussion forums, looking for link building opportunities. Participating in online forums is a great link building activity.
You definitely can’t be a blatant link spammer. You have to understand the policies of each forum. You also can’t come into a forum and be aggressively needy. Never start throwing around links to your site in your first posts.
I also wouldn’t recommend coming into a forum and asking for big favors right off the bat. I’ve seen people come to a forum and ask things like: “Please look at my site and tell my why I’m not coming up in the search engines.”
That’s a big topic.

Twitter Expands to Japan, Includes Ads
Popular social media network, Twitter, has announced its expansion to Japan. But this time, ads will be rolled out with the launch of the service. The Twitter blog said that users will see “media from two clients.” So far, it seems as though the Japanese ads are display ads placed on the Twitter site, while rumors of contextual ad testing in the US have creeped up on blogs in recent weeks.
Part of Twitter’s appeal is social search. Users are finding that asking their followers for recommendations often yields better or quicker results than using a search engine.
Twitter as a utility offers only limited search – providing users the ability to search user names and locations for keywords.
