Autor admin | 02.04.2008 | Category SEO
Doom and gloom abound in the economic world and the Debbie Downer syndrome is spreading like a flesh-eating virus. I hate it when we run out of money. So many things are just better with money, don’t you think?
If I get one more e-mail forwarded to me from a CEO that contains the phrase, “tightening the belt,” while “preparing for a slowdown,” I may just check into rehab for the rest of the year and wait this one out.
On the other hand, many people believe search will benefit from economic strife, but that doesn’t mean you should (or can) ignore what’s happening around you. With “how to survive a recession” searches topping the charts this week, I present to you five ways to survive and economic slowdown…in search.

Reintsalling My PC, Part 1: Top Timesavers My home PC has started running, to paraphrase an Election Night Dan Rather, slower than a lame horse in molasses on a January morning. So, I need to reinstall, which has prompted quite a bit of soul searching on my part: what operating system do I install; what programs do I really need; what do I need on my computer to be good at my job? I’ve come up with a list of about 15 programs I really need, but so as not to make this post go on forever, I’ve divided the list into categories. Let’s start with those programs that save you time. 1. Launchy - If you have Launchy, you understand why I can’t live without it. If you don’t have it, prepare for your life to change. So who’s Douglas Merrill? As Caroline McCarthy of The Social noted in this very funny exhange: “Doug Merrill is leaving Google.” “Doug who?” “The Google exec who looks liike Ethan from Lost.” “Ohhhh.” As only the second senior executive to leave Google, Merrill and his departure won’t cause a panic in the Googleplex Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg was the first senior exec to leave Google. As the former VP global sales and operations, Sandberg, who left last month, is tackling a major problem that Google’s largest social search competitor hasn’t solved: monetization. Intel’s Atom is The Big News at IDF
Autor admin | 02.04.2008 | Category SEO
For the second year in a row, Intel is holding its spring Developer Forum in China as opposed to a San Francisco show, as had been tradition for several years. In another break from tradition, Intel’s PC processors stepped aside and let the newest member of the product family, the Atom processor, take center stage.
Atom is the name for a family of mobile and embedded processors developed under the codename “Silverthorne”. These chips are based on the IA-32 architecture, which is a few years behind the Core 2 architecture that forms the basis of every new Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) PC processor on the market.

Is Patent Reform Fight Almost Over?
Autor admin | 02.04.2008 | Category SEO
With Congress back from recess, the fight for sweeping legislation to reform the patent system may be entering its final stages — according to members of the Coalition for Patent Fairness, the association representing companies supporting the bill.
Senators both favoring and opposing the Patent Reform Act reached a compromise on the majority of the bill’s provisions before the recess, leaving only a few issues still unresolved. Active discussions are currently taking place at both the staffer and member levels, said Mark Isakowitz, a spokesman for the coalition.
A spokeswoman for Sen. Harry Reid’s office confirmed that the majority leader was committed to introducing the bill before the next recess eight weeks from now, and possibly as early as next week.

Technical Analysis: 89 Dow Points To Go

Just 88.84 points separate the Dow (first chart below) from its February high; a close of 12,743.2 or higher would confirm the Transports’ (second chart) close above its February high a week ago. That would generate a Dow Theory bull signal, reversing November’s bear signal, and suggest that the worst of the credit crunch may be behind us. If the Dow can clear its February high, it could head to 13,000-13,150 before it hits serious resistance. Support on the index can be found at 12,500 and 12,300. The S&P (third chart) needs to clear 1380 and 1406, and 1350, 1340 and 1330 are support. The Nasdaq (fourth chart) faces upside hurdles at 2387-2419, and 2285-2300 should now be strong support, with first support at 2325-2330.
